"Machigotoni Furo Ari"
It means "There is a bath in each town" in Japanese. These are the words used in the Edo period in the early 17th century. Public baths were part of people's lives when it was not common to have a bath at home in Japan.
No matter what your status or occupations are, we are all the same people when we are naked.
The mixed bathing culture which basically means men and women are in the bath together continued until the middle of the Meiji era.

Printed on "Washi" (Japanese paper) using hemp.
It has a history of about 1400 years.
It was made from ancient traditional techniques in Japan.
Hemp has a finer fiber than Kozo, making it less rough than Kozo paper alone.
The texture is soft and matte (no shine on a surface.) It is also thick and sturdy so it will last for a long time.

17世紀初頭、江戸時代に言われた言葉です
かつての銭湯は、まだ家に風呂があるのが一般的でなかった時代、庶民の生活の要でありました
どんな身分でもどんな職業でも裸になれば皆同じ
「入り込み湯」と言われた混浴文化も明治中期まで続きました


麻を使用した和紙に刷りました
古代の伝統的な技法で製作された紙で、麻は楮よりも繊維が細いため、楮だけの紙よりも荒々しさをやわらげてくれます。
質感は柔らかくマットで、反射等は一切ございません。
厚みも十分にあり存在感は抜群です。
